I dunno how many of you have visited my blog recently and seen this new template. Well I quite liked it...its funky. However, its not *really* me. I mean, I love to shop, but am not a shopaholic. I just gave into the temptation of changing my blog's look.
Saw Miss India last night. Found it so poorly hosted by Malaika Arora Khan and R. Madhavan. Fumbling here and there, they cracked weird 'not-required' jokes, there was no enthu in the whole presentation. Its annoying the way Malaika speaks, pouting at every word, trying to highlight her cheek bones...bleh! A shameful presentation, the show was full of faux pas. Especially, when they announced Miss India World, even before the girl could react and they could highlight her crowning glory, R. Madhavan announced the final winner of the Miss India Universe title. Poor girl could not even experience her thunder, and it was stolen from her within nano seconds. To add to this, the previously crowned ladies of 2008 mixed up the sashes and crowns and poor Madhavan had to re-announce the winners to clear the confusion. The ladies then exchanged the sashes to honour the girls. Kangana Ranaut's performance was a pitiful enactment of what was Madhuri Dixit's forte. Her expressionless face killed the essence of each song, she performed on.
I don't think people watch it with the same awe as they used to. I remember, Miss India used to be this grand event, which the whole country used to talk about. But not anymore. Everyone knows that its a gateway to Bollywood for the girls now. No one applauded when the sub-contest titles were announced during the pageant, it was clear that even the girls knew what was coming beforehand.

i didn't see miss india contest... the last i saw was when lara dutta won i think.. which was ages ago.. and there hasn't been a single decent miss-india since then.
you are right, the show has lost that thing, no one cares about the most beautiful indian woman of the year any more. i don't find them all that beautiful anyway.. it began at the aish - sush show and ended at lara dutta - dia mirza year
now they don't do well at international contests either..
i saw clips of kangana's performance in the news.. I wonder why she's been cast opposite hrithik roshan in kites where he's playing a choreographer and she his student! doesn't look like she learnt ANYTHING
i hate malaika arora khan.. she models for this fitness equipments company..has huge pictures outside the showroom in some mall i go to often.. dressed in some dirty yellow stuff... bare arms.. UNWAXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and btw , the one thing i noticed was , none of them looked "special" enough to make it to be Miss India

How can u expect 18 year olds to carry forward the responsibility of the entire country and represent it on an international platform. The girls were literally trembling while speaking.
