I have been wanting to change my blogger template and came across some really nice ones. But the sad part is that if I upload them, they say that my blog archives and profile will be deleted...now how can I allow that? Isn't it lame! But I really wanna change from dark colours to some bright ones. Have downloaded some really cool templates and I face the same problem with each of them. Somebody help!
Had an amazing weekend after a reallllyyyyyy long time. Went to a friend's place on Saturday. Drank a lot and laughed a lot! It was great fun. My life has been really dead, so this was a refreshing breather. And I wanna incorporate the same to my blog. Put some life into it. Have some bright summery colours. I have been using the dark colour template for too long. Well maybe I'll find a solution. Or you guys could refer some sites to download free templates.

basically , wat it means by "ur profile gets deleted" is , all the widgets like followers , that map thing etc will not feature in the new blog template.
all u need to do is just add them back the normal way after u changed the template . as such ur "profile" in blogger wil never get deleted , unless u delete ur blog itself..
(anyways ,u can save ur blog and have a backup copy in ur computer , by going to blogspot.com,clicking on settings ,click on export blog , then click on download blog. ur blog will be downloaded as a file. u can import it anytime in the future , if ever u make some silly mistakes)

Thanks Kartik...I know that widgets can be added again...but what about blog archives...now I don't wanna lose that!

The blog posts/ blog archives are a separate entity from ur blog template.
so ur posts are always there , unless u delete the blog itself..
and as i said , u can always easily backup ur blog in a second , by clicking on that export blog option..
